Welcome To Buffs Park – New Signing, Jamie Barclay

In the first of our new signings we start with a new goalkeeper, Jamie Barclay. Jamie joins us from Lowland League side East Stirlingshire. Jamie made over 150 appearances for “Shire” in a 4 year spell at the club. He started his football career at Celtic as a youth before moving into the professional ranks with Falkirk, where he spent some time on loan at Partick Thistle and East Stirling. Spells at Berwick, Stenhousemuir and Dumbarton followed prior to his time at East Stirlingshire.

Jamie opted to not renew his contract with “Shire” and Gaffer Chris Strain moved quickly to land his man. This is what Chris had to say on his new keeper, “Jamie has signed from East Stirlingshire where he has been a top keeper for the last 3 seasons. He’s 29, a good age for a keeper. We have lost Davey Markey so it was vital to bring in another keeper. He played 160 consecutive games with East Stirling and he’s assured me he wants to come to the club and assist us on our journey.”

On signing, Jamie said, “I’m delighted to have signed for the club. As soon as I saw Buffs Park and met The Gaffer and saw the place, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. There are great facilities and the plans in place to take the club forward look amazing. I can’t wait to get started and hope it’s a cracking season.”

We’d like to welcome Jamie to Buffs Park and look forward to seeing him in action. You’ll hear more from Jamie soon on KRTV.
