As the manager prepares for season 21/22 in the West of Scotland Football League the club confirm that left-back Sam McCloskey and central defender Tommy Maitland will leave the club.
Sam has been a great servant to club having signed in 2016. He’s featured regularly in the side throughout his time. He is a great character and will be missed around Buffs Park.
Manager Chris Strain had this to same on Sam:-
“Sam has been a great player for the club. He’s been a true professional and more importantly he’s a top lad. I wish Sam all the best going forward.”
Tommy arrived at the club in 2014 signing from Girvan. Tommy has had a 7 year spell at the club and been a regular in central defence. Tommy was popular with the fans and referees alike.
Chris describes Tommy as the best £300 the club has ever spent:-
“Tommy was our first signing 7 years ago and he’s been the best £300 the club has spent. He’s scored some big goals for the club but he’s been a colossus for us through the years. Unfortunately with a young family he’s not able to commit to the required levels and leave with our best wishes.”
The Club would like to wish both Sam and Tommy all the best for the future and will always be welcome at Buffs Park.
Manager Chris Strain can also confirm that the rest of the squad have agreed deals for season 21/22 however goalkeeper Adam Strain is still mulling over the clubs offer.
