Today is a landmark day for The Buffs as Jack McMahon becomes the first player to sign a professional contract from the Kilwinning Rangers Youth Pathway.
The 17 year old forward has been a part of the youth pathway for over 10 years. The Under 17s star has made a few appearances for the first team this season. Caretaker Manager Mark Campbell gave Jack his first start against Irvine Meadow in April. McMahon also came off the bench to score his first goal against Darvel in our final league game in the WoSFL Premier Division.
The Youth Pathway is something the club have been keen to develop since moving to Buffs Park and chairman Colin Boyd is delighted to get Jack onboard:
“Jack is the first player from the Kilwinning Rangers Youth Pathway to sign a professional contract with the club, a local lad that only wants to play for the Buffs. All the work over the last 4 years has been leading up to this point and I’m sure Jack will lead the way more and more for Kilwinning boys to make it into the first team.”
Jack will link up with the first team at pre-season and new manager David Gormley is looking forward to working with him:
“I am absolutely delighted to get Jack signed up.
My coaching staff and I are looking forward to working with Jack and we will all work hard for him to achieve his full potential.
This is also a positive message for our coaches and young players within the Kilwinning Rangers Youth Pathway that shows them there is a route to the first team and we intend to make this as successful as possible.”
Jack’s here to score goals:
“I am looking forward to the challenge of playing with the 1st team and working with the new management team. I am hoping to push my way into the starting 11 and get as many goals as possible.”
Jack has agreed a 2 year deal until June 2024. Welcome to the club, Jack.
