Kilwinning Rangers are delighted to announce the appointment of new manager Chris Aitken.
The management committee have gone through an arduous process to find a manager we feel can bring some much needed stability to the team and improve performances on the park. We can all agree Kilwinning Rangers shouldn’t be a club in the relegation battle. By appointing Chris Aitken to the club we feel he is the man to propel us up the table and secure our safety within the West of Scotland Premier Division. Climbing out of the relegation zone will be vital however, we do have important cup games vs St Cadoc’s in the West of Scotland Football League Cup and Maryhill in the 5th round of the South Challenge Cup to look forward to.
Chris was the standout candidate on paper and when the management committee met with him, we knew he was the right fit for the club and will bring high standards and professionalism to the team.
Aitken has previously worked as manager at Lowland League side East Kilbride taking over from brother Steven in 2021 as well as assistant manager to Buffs Legend Stevie Farrell at Stranraer within the SPFL for four years.
Club Chairman Colin Evans told the club website:
“We’re delighted to welcome Chris Aitken to the club following a busy application process for the managers position. Chris made a good impression to the management committee and gave solutions to improve the football results at the club. Everyone at the club will give Chris all the support he needs for the immediate position we find ourselves in and the long term project at the club.”
On appointment, new Manager Chris Aitken said:
“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going. Hard work starts now and with the vision and commitment with everyone connected to the club. I can’t wait to meet the players and get started.”
Chris Millar will lead the team for Saturday’s WoSFL Premier Division match vs Beith and the new manager will take the reins from Monday. Aitken’s backroom staff will be announced in due course.
