The club are delighted to announce the contract extensions of midfielders Mark Lamont and Blair Macintyre.
Lamont, last years Buffs Foundation Player of The Year and has been an ever present in Kevin Kelly’s side since his arrival in June 2024. This is Mark’s 3 season at The Buffs has taken up Vice Captain duties after Keiren Wood left the club in the summer.
Mark is this season’s top scorer with 5 goals and adding goals was always something we was keen to do in Blue and White.
Manager Kevin Kelly knows the quality Lamont brings to the side
“Mark is a lad who has been great since the moment we walked in the door in June. A lad who has great affection for the club and has really bought into the strive for success. Getting him tied up for the next 20 months really shows the direction we are looking to go as a club and hope he continues to bring that consistency on the pitch with the quality he has.
Another player tied up for another season is midfielder Blair MacIntyre, another player who has been in ever present in the side and really buys into what the club are trying to do and evidently enjoys his football in Kilwinning. Blair also joined the club in 2021 and is his third season at Buffs Park.
Blair Mac sits just behind Lamont in the goalscoring charts having scored the perfect hat trick in our 5-1 win over Blantyre earlier in the season.
“Getting Blair signed for the next 20 months is great for the club. Him signing and extension so early shows the faith he has in the club and what we are trying to build here. His performances on the pitch have earned ttis new deal. A lad who is Mr Consistent and always willing to learn, asks questions and demands high standards of his teammates. Just an all round great person to have at the club. Any young person coming through our academy should be looking at him and how he conducts himself on and off the pitch.”
Kevin Kelly sees these extensions as key pieces to the puzzle
“Getting these deals over the line in October is important for the club. It builds into the stability of what we’re trying to do here at Kilwinning Rangers and hopefully shows everyone that Buffs Park is a good place to be as we continue to improve on and off the park. We hope that both players won’t be the last and we’ll be in a better place than when we arrived here in June with a great dressing of players all pushing in the same direction for the success of The Buffs”
