The club are disappointed to find out that Club Captain Ben Lewis has rejected a contract offer and will leave the club upon expiry of his current deal.
The midfielder has been a stalwart at the club having made over 500 appearances in the blue and white hoops in a career that has spanned 16 years, started his footballing career under the guidance of Ian Cashmore Snr at Kilwinning Sports Club which is now home Buffs Park and the Kilwinning Rangers First Team.
Benji has been through it all with the club coming up through the leagues from the Ayrshire District Leagues to the West of Scotland Premier Division. He captained the side in a number of cup finals which saw him lift the Ayrshire Cup in 2018 as captain in a 1-0 win over Largs at Medda Park.
Manager Chris Aitken is gutted to lose his captain
“Ben Lewis leaving the club will take some time to get over, he is and always will be Mr Kilwinning, to say this was a surprise is an understatement and one I never seen coming. From day one since I came in Ben was the ultimate professional and a great guy to boot. He leaves with nothing other than our best wishes and we wish him all the best. Good luck Benji.”
The whole club would like to wish Ben all the best in his next step in football and know he will always be welcome at Buffs Park forever more.
