We are delighted to announce the first two players who have re-signed contracts for next season. Currently, we don’t have a start date for football in the West of Scotland Football League but manager Chris Strain is building his squad in anticipation for football returning.
The first player returning is left back, Chris McGowan. Chris joined the club from Stranraer at the beginning of season 19/20 however, injury curtailed his season, “I am happy to have re-signed for the coming season with The Buffs. I am looking forward to getting back playing football after being out for a long time with injuries. Fans have been great and The Gaffer and my team mates have made it even more enjoyable. I’m excited to see what the season has in store. ”
Manager Chris Strain had this to say, “Chris had his season cut short through injury which hampered him for 2 seasons. Now that he is healthy, I expect massive things from him. He’s talented but he needs to show hunger and desire for the game as it’s hard to motivate yourself when you are bothered by injury. He now has to show that grit and determination to fulfil his undoubted potential. A bit of his old man in him would be a bonus as Gowsa is still going strong at 41.”
Bolstering the left side the second of our announcements is winger, Alex McWaters. Alex joined us from Largs at the beginning of season 19/20 and is back to build on a good first season in the blue and white hoops, “I’m happy to have re-signed at The Buffs for next season. After such a good and dramatic season with the team and with what happened with certain decisions, I am really looking forward to the new season starting when we are able to. As a team and an individual, I think we both can excel as we have a really good group of boys and The Gaffer makes it easy for us to enjoy it .”
The Gaffer is delighted to have Alex sign on the dotted line, “Alex is someone who had a good season scoring a decent amount of goals and I’m delighted he’s re-signed. He’s moved about a bit recently and I’m glad he’s chosen to stay and lay some roots. I expect a lot from Alex and he backs himself but in terms of his football, this is a big year for him and with hard work, he can mature into a top player for us.”
